ABOUT
LIISA TUULIKKI KAUNISVIRTA
Hi! I’m a Finnish artist & designer living in Helsinki. My first name is Liisa and Tuulikki is my middle name and a forest goddess in Finnish mythology.
My current focus is on ceramics, painting, and living my dream of being a full-time artist! I’ve graduated from Aalto University’s Contemporary Design program with a BA & MA in Arts. There I focused on finding my artistic voice mainly through ceramics.
My main method of creating both functional objects and fine art is slip casting in which liquid clay is poured into plaster moulds. In painting and digital drawing, I love creating character designs which is why my favourite subject is portraits of fictional and existing people.
Currently I’m selling my works through my online shop and resellers such as Taidehalli museum. I also create tableware for restaurants, most recently for Fat Ramen.
In my work, it is possible to see the influence of pop art, art toys, pop culture, anime, the superflat art movement, fashion and video games & character design. I’m also more broadly influenced by various sides of design, art and fusions of these two.
Equality, environmental issues, and human & animal rights are other subjects close to my heart and I donate part of my yearly revenue to charities helping with these matters. I'd be happy to hear suggestions for causes you care about.♡
You can learn more about me through my Instagram and portfolio.
